Heuristic analysis of Hostelworld’s Microsite webpage
Overview: As a part of the product’s proposed UX roadmap, I performed multiple heuristic analyses for all pages/screens in the funnel. My heuristic analyses usually border on nit-picking; they tend to pinpoint every dot out of place. One such heuristic analysis was the one performed for the 2018 version of Hostelworl’d Hostel’s microsite web page. The original presentation with videos of identified errors was too heavy to link here. You can get in touch with me to access that version. Alternatively, you’ll find the static screenshots of the presentation below. The analysis is accompanied by a severity grading of all recognized issues for the purpose of prioritizing their repair.
So what did this lead to?
This analysis was followed up with a usability test to gauge if the users concur with the identified issues, and to accommodate any other pain points which were not identified through the heuristic analysis. All of the issues identified herein were directly inculcated into the JIRA program as actionable tickets, assigned to teams and persons concerned.
